Manager, Public Affairs
Develop and implement communication strategies to ensure positive and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders including NAA members, state elected officials, government officials, the media, advocacy groups and industry partners.
Work with Communications and Government Affairs staffs to translate policy priorities and initiatives into strong communication strategies that support the goals and agenda of NAA.
Manage communication activities between Communications and Government Affairs staff to ensure NAA messaging is coordinated with overall strategic efforts, congressional actions, state initiatives and federal regulatory proposals, and that priorities, goals and timelines are aligned and achieved. Identify opportunities to expand the public affairs message of NAA.
Reinforce NAA brand identity and strengthen overall outreach to external audiences at the state and local levels. Seek out and coordinate NAA participation in external programs and events. Serve as primary contact for external stakeholders and respond to questions from NAA membership. Participate in meetings and forums in support of NAA priorities.
Creation of internal and external communications including position papers, testimony, talking points, blog posts, articles and other communication materials as needed. In coordination with Communications, utilize online technologies, including use of social media platforms for communicating with external stakeholders.
Requirements:
· 3-5 years experience in public relations, public affairs, communications or government affairs, preferably in the housing industry.
· Demonstrated success in developing and executing membership, marketing and communication strategies.
· Strong written communication skills.
· Successful track record building and sustaining relationships, working with elected officials and their staff as well as membership organizations and third party coalitions.
· Experience managing external vendors, budgets, projects and events.
· Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
· Knowledge of new media technologies.
· Bachelor’s degree in communications, political science, marketing or related.

Research Analyst, Government Affairs
Responsible for providing general program support for the entire State & Local Affairs team, including state legislative and issues research, state legislative tracking, assisting in advocacy execution and legal research.
Manage the content of the NAA Legislative Library and assist in the development of its information pieces.
Assist in translation of research results into accessible content for members.
Coordination of research and analysis with the Policy Mangers and assist in the dissemination of the information and inquires form members and affiliates.
Respond to basic member inquiries to supply information already developed.
Assist and facilitate member driven research through appropriate benchmarking and other research tools
Assist in the development and implementation of the NAA Annual Capitol Conference.
Assist with development and production of briefing and project materials.
This individual will also provide back up support for the Association’s Political Action Committee and Grassroots programs.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· 1-2 years experience in government affairs, preferably in the housing industry.
· Advanced internet research skills. Familiarity with Lexis and state legislative tracking services preferred.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to compose analytical documents preferred.
· Prior experience working with elected officials and their staff as well as membership organizations and third party coalitions a plus.
· Proficient knowledge in database management.
· Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
· Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
· Familiarity with state legislative and regulatory processes preferred.
· General accounting experience a plus.
· Bachelor’s degree in political science, political policy or related field.
